Vitec’s origins can be traced back to the demand for the highest fire retardancy (FR) possible for a polyurethane foam based product. Unlike in-situ foam impregnation allows very high FR loading and safety critical products were designed & specified back in the 1970’s & 1980’s for use in military vehicles, high security accommodation including HM Prisons and then, following the Victoria fire, in underground trains for LUL (London Underground). The unique combination of fire resistance, low smoke volume, low toxicity of the decomposition products and comfort of PYROFLEX impregnated foam is un-paralleled. PYROFLEX grades are available with various levels of resilience and char forming to produce specific fire performance characteristics.
