NOISE CONTROL

The control and reduction of noise usually requires an analysis not only of the sound source, but also all the possible routes that that sound could transmit through solid structures and air to the receiver(s).

Vitec has considerable experience in understanding how sound can be transmitted from machines (such as air-conditioning, compressors/generators or marine) or through buildings and the types of materials which are required to reduce it. Noise is often only a nuisance, but can also be detrimental to health or not meet legal restrictions.

Since sound can be transmitted directly or indirectly, sound absorbers, barriers or damping materials may be required, depending on the severity of the problem. These materials can be combined as composites.

A wide range of protective facings such as fabrics, films or coatings are available. A choise of pressure sensitive adhesives are available for fixing.

The risk from spreading of fire cannot be underestimated, the risk to life and the huge cost in the event of fire can be crippling. Vitec can offer through their manufacturing processes the largest range of fire performance from self-extinguishing to safety critical meeting many national & international standards as illustrated below -

  • Class O Building Regulations (BS476 Part 7 Class 1 & BS476 Part 6).
  • EPIradiateur - M1
  • DIN4102 - B1
  • Oxygen Index ISO4589-3
  • UL94 V0, HF1
  • FMVSS302
