FILTRATION

The need to filter out undesirable products or materials from gases and liquids is essential for either the proper functioning of a device or system, or simply to remove an unpleasant side effect (e.g. unpleasant cooking odours or fish waste).

VITEC manufactures a wide range of polyurethane foams (PU) usually reticulated polyethers or polyesters) and fibre filters often impregnated to enhance or provide specific performance.

Aquatic filters. For water pumps, used for the removal of suspended debris and to aid reduction of toxic organic fish waste. Reticulated polyether foams sometimes with a fibre pre-filter. Activated carbon or zeolites can be impregnated into the foam to improve water purity. PURIPORE-RT and CARBOTEC RANGE .

Odour removing filters. These use carbon impregnated reticulated PU foams or fibres, which can also be made rigid to absorb odours for cooker-hoods, fridges or ponds or to remove ozone. CARBOTEC RANGE.

Oil coalescing filters. Used for separating oil from oil/air mists, normally enveloping cylindrical metal filters. These reticulated foams can also be impregnated with PVC to improve performance and to aid edge heat welding for the manufacture of foam cylinders (manufactured at VITEC). IMPROCEL-RS60-PVC.

Medical filters. There are several applications where reticulated foams are used to capture either dust particles, micro-organisms or when impregnated with an hydrophilic ingrediant act as a source of both moisture and heat in respiratory devices (HME filters). IMPROCEL – RS90-CC.

Fire retardant. Untreated foam and fibre has self extinguishing properties. The IMPROCEL range of impregnated filters can have UL94 V0 or HF1 rating.
